Premier Bet Wizards’ chances of survival in the country’s top flight league continue to diminish as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Moyale Barracks.

The game which ended in favor of the Kaning’ina soldiers saw the first half end in 1-1 state with goals from Peter Janga Msowoya and Gastin Simkonda for Wizards and respectively.

Wizards could have been leading in the first half as they were awarded a penalty but their captain Trevor Kalema missed the golden chance.

Three minutes into the second half which was spiced with rains, Moyale scored another goal through BoyBoy Chima to make it 2-1.

It could have been worse for Wizards as Simkonda found another golden opportunity but his header hit the right side post of Francis Mkanda’s goal.

Wizards tried to attack through Patrick Phiri and Kondwani Majoni but the defence of the soldiers was just too strong to allow the young men penetrate, resulting to efforts made becoming unproductive.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors. The result means Moyale Barracks are now having 44 points from 29 games while Wizards are on position 13, pocketing 27 points and are remaining with a single game against Red Lions.

Wizards’ technical director Peter Mponda said he advised the boys to get early goals but they failed to use their chances.

“We had more chances but at least we could collect a single point but now we have given ourselves a very tough job but, just need to go to our last game with venom and we need to fight our last breath,” Mponda said.

Moyale Barracks coach Collins Nkuna said the win is a boost to the team as he said it’s possible to make the dream of finishing in the top 6 come true.

“The boys know that a win is a step ahead in every game, as they are scoring, they are following all the needed instructions instilled into them. We played two games so I thought fatigue will haunt us but lucky enough we have managed to grab a win,” Nkuna said.

The Lions of Kaning’ina are going back with four points following a 1-1 draw against Be Forward Mighty Wanderers on Saturday.
