Mr and Miss Albino contest to take place in Kenya
The East African nation will host the historic beauty pageant involving people with albinism in the Capital Nairobi, on a day to be announced later.
Information sourced by this publication indicates that young men and women living with albinism will for the first time take to the runway, in an all albino pageant.
The contest is mainly aimed at boosting confidence among the special group amidst Ill conditions they are subjected to by some ill willed people.
In most parts of Africa, people living with albinism have suffered atrocities ranging from killings to abductions. Albinism is associated with misconceptions and superstitions leading to albinos getting stigmatised.
Malawi is among the countries which recorded high cases of victimising people with albinism.
This raised concern from internal organisations which advised the government to do more in protecting the group.
