Police in the lakeshore district of Nkhatabay are hunting for a 35 year-old woman identified as Joyce Mkandawire for killing her 38 year-old brother who wanted to rape her.
According to information sourced from GVH Mphongolo in whose area the incident took place, during the evening of 09th October 2016 the deceased, Jonas Banda, went to his sister’s house where he demanded to have sexual intercourse with her.
The suspect did not give in to the deceased’s demands and due to this, a fight broke out between the two.
In course of the fight, the woman took a pestle and hit the deceased on the head and he died on the spot.
In a bid to conceal what had happened, relatives to the deceased buried the dead body without informing police but the law enforcers were tipped by some well-wishers and they visited the scene of the incident where they found that burial had already been done.
Investigations into the matter to arrest the suspect who is currently at large are underway and exhumation of the dead body for postmortem is to follow later.
The deceased and the attempted rape victim come from Mphongolo village, Traditional Authority (TA) Fukamapiri in Nkhatabay district.
