According to a notice from the High Court’s Principal Registry, it was brought to the attention of the court that Chiphwanya closed his legal firm called Denning Chambers without making necessary arrangements for the affairs of  his clients.

The conduct is said to be a contravention of Section 21(1) (i) of the Legal Education and Legal Practitioners Act in that it tends to bring the profession of the law into disrepute.

Making the ruling on the matter was Judge Michael Tembo who said the conduct by Chiphwanya is one of the most heinous offences under Legal Education and Legal Practitioners Act since it goes against the very existence of the legal profession.

The court therefore ordered that the president of the Malawi Law Society should take over all the documents which were in the abandoned firm of Denning Chambers, as per indicated in the Legal Education and Legal Practitioners Act so that clients affected should be helped.

Tembo also asked members of the general public affected by the conduct of Chiphwanya to bring their matters to the attention of the president of the Malawi Law Society for assistance.
