Primary school teacher dead, 13 others injured in road accident

A road accident involving a lorry in Mangochi district has claimed the life of a primary school teacher and has left 13 other people injured.

The teacher has been identified as 26 year-old Memory Ng’ong’ola. Mangochi Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Amina Tepani Daudi said the lorry with the registration number NU 3559 was being driven by Ibrahim Twaya and was coming from Makanjira heading to Mangochi Township with a lot of passengers on board.

road accident“Upon reaching at Saiti village, Twaya was overtaking another vehicle but due to overspeeding he lost control and swerved to the extreme near side where the car overturned twice,” Daudi said.

According to Daudi, the teacher sustained major injuries following the impact and she died while receiving treatment at Lugola Health Centre.

Thirteen other passengers sustained injuries. Meanwhile, the driver is currently in police custody and he will appear in court soon to answer the charge of causing death by reckless driving which is contrary to section 126(4c) of Road Traffic Act.

The deceased hailed from Kamutu Village, Traditional Authority Malumbe in Zomba district.

Kid’s who scorned Prophet Elisha because he was bald got mauled by bears when Elisha couldn’t bear their scorning. We live in the times of grace but that’s is not a reason enough to just scorn a Prophet of God. May God have mercy on you for mercy triumphs over judgement.
