…as Gloria Manong’a launches album in Lilongwe
Mchinji based upcoming gospel artist Alex Mkalo has started a journey of promoting his new album with a bang as he mesmerized fans on Sunday in Lilongwe during Gloria Manong’a’s double album launch.
Despite the show’s low patronage, Mkalo dished out the best performance and managed to attract people to join him on stage when he sampled out one song titled “Komzeka” from his new album.
Speaking in an interview, Mkalo said the audience took him by surprise adding it was not easy to see people singing along on a first performance at the confluence of Gospel music lovers, the ICA Marque.
“It was really challenging before I took the stage but then I gained courage with the support I got from people,” he said.
The 22 year-old singer said his performance marks the beginning of more performances as he is scheduled to perform in Mulanje and Phalombe over the weekend during Ronald Thamakera’s Gospel music tour.
Young and energetic Alex who seems ambitious in Gospel music also said people should expect more great things from him saying he is geared to win souls through music.
“This is just a beginning, Malawians should expect great things from me and they should know that God has sent another angel in the Gospel industry. I promise to reach many areas with the word of God,” he said.
Mkalo who works for Malawi Post Corporation in Mchinji said as an upcoming artist he gets his inspiration from Maggie Mangani who is matured enough in her composition.
According to Mkalo, his new album will be on the market from Friday and will be selling at K1000 each. Other songs in the album include Yehova Sanakuiwale, Ndine Yemwe Uja, Mwala Okanidwa and the album’s title track Kumwamba kumve.
