A 24 year old man has committed suicide by hanging for unknown reasons in Dedza district.
Confirming the incident, Dedza police deputy publicist constable Cassim Manda identified the deceased as Chiyembeko Kulemeka of Chinyamula village in the area of Traditional Authority Kamenyagwaza in the district.
Manda said the incident has happened on Wednesday at about 0800 hours at Mandala area in Dedza.
According to the police spokesperson, the father to the deceased had planned to go with him to the market but when he entered into his room, he found that the young man had hanged himself using jeans trousers.
The deceased left a suicide note in which he apologised to his parents and appreciated them but did not say the reason he chose to take away his life.
Post-mortem results conducted by Dedza district hospital personnel has shown that Kulemeka’s death was due to strangulation.
Meanwhile constable Manda has urged the general public to address their issues amicably and to visit victim support unit at any police station that gives counselling to those who have psychological problems.
