Malawi super league Lilongwe City based side Kamuzu Barracks scored through Pempho Kansichiri in the 23rd minute to cancel Moyale Barracks’ early goal and ensure the teams shared the spoils at Mzuzu stadium on Saturday.
The match started at a fast pace as both sides were in search of early goals in the opening minutes but it was Moyale Barracks who scored first through Khuda Muyaba.
Moyale Barracks were coming from a 3-0 win over Mafco FC last Saturday whereas their opponents’ previous game was a goalless draw against Civo united.
After the Moyale Barracks goal, Kamuzu Barracks started dominating the match and they found the back of the net in the 23rd minute through Kansichiri to make it 1-1.
In the second half, Moyale Barracks dominated possession as Crispin Fukizi, Khuda Muyaba and Deus Nkutu were playing some good passing and attacking football.
Nkutu, the goal scoring machine for Moyale Barracks and last season’s Malawi’s Super League top goal scorer had a couple of goal scoring chances to put Moyale Barracks in the lead again but he wasted all the chances.
Both Moyale Barracks and Kamuzu Barracks had good chances in the dying minutes of the game but they both lacked the scoring composure upfront and the game ended 1-1.
Kamuzu Barracks will complete their two away assignments to the north with another tough match against the students of Mzuzu University on Sunday who are fighting to move out of the relegation zone.
