A 21 year old Malawian man in Nsanje district who raped and killed a 1 year old girl has been killed by an irate mob, Malawi24 has learnt.
Nsanje Police Public Relations Officer, Sub-Inspector Samson Balakasi confirmed about the incident and identified the deceased as Frank Fole.
Fole died at hospital where he was receiving treatment having been beaten by angry people.
Balakasi explained that a girl was going home with her aunt during the night of October 2 to October 3, 2015 and met the suspect who allegedly offered to escort the girl to her father.
According to Balakasi, Fole allegedly defiled and killed the girl, Lonjezo Gift during that night.
Balakasi said since then the victim and accused went missing and this prompted people to launch a search till October 3 when the girl’s relations apprehended the accused at Phokera.
“Upon being apprehended, the suspect revealed to have defiled and killed the child and dumped her remains in a bush about two kilometres from their home,” said Balakasi.
The postmortem results from Sorgin Health Centre in the district where it conducted showed that the girl died due to suffocation.
Fole was coming from Millias village, Traditional Authority Mbenje in the district and he was expected to appear in court soon to answer defilement and murder charges.
