Malawi’s inflation rate continues Its downward trend, latest data shows.

According to Government of Malawi, the country’s inflation rate for September is at 8.4 percent which is among the lowest in the SADC Region as well as globally.

“Breaking it down to specfic sectors, for urban areas, it is 8.2% while for rural areas it is at 8.9%.

“For food it is 5.1% while for non food items it is 11.6%,” says a post on Malawi Government Facebook post.

Malawi’s inflation fell by 0.9 percentage points from 10.2 percent in July to the single digit figure of 9.3 percent in August.

Experts hailed the drop saying the speed of the rise in commodity prices, will be reduced.

  1. Ngati inflation ikutsika why is it that katundu akukwela daily. Each time you go to shops you find kuti mitengo yasintha? This is just on paper but practically it’s the opposite. shame to all in power
