Devotion: Focus on the permanent

2 Cor 4:18 “because we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”

Dont make a permanent decision based on temporary features. For example decisions such as who to marry, your career path, and so on are vital and permanent and hence need to be based on permanent basis.

Mar 13:31 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” The Word is permanent and hence your permanent decisions should be Word based.

When there is a conflict between the temporary and the permanent, the temporary should bow down to the permanent. When permanent children in the house are in conflict with visitors, Children always pervail because they are permanent. Therefore every visiting situation in your life bows down to the Word of God because the Word is the only permanent.

When the permanent is not around, the temporary will start appearing permanent. He may assume the permanent status up until the real permanent one comes.

For example when someone has gone for further studies, they would pick another employee to be acting. When the real owner stays longer the acting starts appearing permanent owner of the position.

In the absence of God’s Word which is the permanent, undesired situations which are temporary may start taking root and start acting as permanent.

You can drive them by simply bringing, meditating and saturating yourself with the Word of God. The Word the permanent will always prevail over the temporary.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you because of your Word that is working in my life. I always focus on the permanent Word of God because all situations are temporary and they can go away but your Word will remain forever. In Jesus Name.Amen.
