Police in Bangwe have arrested 15 people during a sweeping exercise in the area over the weekend.
Assistant public relations officer for Southern Region Police Widson Nhlane said the sweeping exercise was conducted as one way of reducing crime in the area and the exercises will continue during the Easter holidays.
According to Nhlane, the suspects have been arrested on several charges including theft, breaking into a building and committing a felony therein, being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen, rogue and vagabond and operating a business without a license.
Nhlane however explained that investigations are underway to find out all information related to the crimes.
He said the suspects will appear in court soon after the investigations to answer charges levelled against them.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers have appealed to residents to report to police anyone they suspect to be a criminal or who is terrorising their communities.
On their part, the police have pledged to work tirelessly to reduce crime which they say has risen in the city.
