Fort-five young people in Mzuzu have undergone a month-long entrepreneurship and ICT related training in Mzuzu.

Old Mutual Malawi supported the training with K7 million. The company’s marketing director Patience Chatsika said the company is funding initiatives which will help youths to be self-reliant.

“We want to alleviate poverty by helping the youth to become self-reliant,” said Chatsika.

Yotam Mtafya, Mzuzu City Council director for parks, hailed Old Mutual for the wonderful job it is doing of supporting youth to acquire skills which will help them start their own businesses.

The training empowered youth with skills such as cellphone and home gadgets repairing. Sanwecka implemented the training with the help of Mzuzu City Council.

Old Mutual also provided similar support for 30 youths under Blantyre City Council, a program which Sanwecka said produced desired fruits.
