Monkey Bay Police community policing sector donates to students with albinism

Monkey Bay Police through Community Policing sector has donated assorted items to students with albinism in Mangochi.

Monkey Bay Police Community Policing Coordinator, Sub Inspector Masautso Katemera said his office decided to  donate sugar and soap to the ten students after observing that they lacked basics for their day-to-day needs.

Apart from sugar and soap, the community policing office also donated school uniforms to three students with albinism.

“We felt obliged to donate towards the students after realising their needs,” Monkey Bay Police Community Policing Coordinator added.

He therefore called on people and organisation of goodwill in Malawi and beyond to donate further to students with albinism with sun shield oils that should protect their skin from sunny conditions.

Lisumbwi Secondary School head teacher, Wiseman Mwenecho Silungwe, commended  Monkey Bay Police Community Policing office for donating to the students.

Mwenecho also asked individuals and organisations to support needy students saying  students with albinism and other needy students require support.

One of the recipients, Rhoda Evance, a form 1 student hailed Monkey Bay Police for the donation that included school uniform.

She also called on organisations and other individuals to support needy students with various items to enable them continue with their studies.

Sub Inspector Enifa Fudzulani and Sub Inspector Catherine Phiri of Monkey Bay Police Community Policing Office were also present during the donation.
