Eighteen Malawians who were involved in a bus accident on Wednesday in Zimbabwe have arrived home and are receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
The Malawians got injured after a Chipozani Bus they boarded on their way to South Africa was involved in an accident. Three people died during the accident.
Mwanza border publicist Pasqually Zulu told this publication that the victims arrived in the country through Mwanza border on Friday morning April 26th, 2019.
Zulu said the 18 victims were brought in by a bus from the same company (Chipozani).
A recovery team official who spoke to border officials upon arrival said they managed to take all the passengers and crew member who were receiving treatment at Kotwaa hospital in Zimbabwe after surviving the accident.
He further said that efforts were made so that they can also take the three bodies but processes to get ambulances were delayed hence leaving the 3 bodies behind.
The three who died have been identified as Shaibu Saidi Passport No MA 218674, Teleza Mbira Passport No 393007 and Alex Chigamba Passport No MA 122120. They were all from Mangochi district.
The bus registration number MC 9689 belonging to Chipozani Coaches was involved in an accident near Chamanno/Nyamapanda on Wednesday at around 6/7 pm.
The bus which had 23 passengers on board was coming from Lilongwe going to South Africa through Dedza border post
