Galatians 1:8-9: “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, were to be a preacher to you of good news (gospel) other than that which we have given you, let there be a curse on him. As we have said before, so say I now again, if any man is a preacher to you of any good news (gospel) other than that which has been given to you, let there be a curse on him.”
In the scripture Paul says that anyone preaching another gospel is cursed or condemned. He hinted that even if an angel has revealed that gospel to him, never respect him.
I have heard some people claiming that what they preach has been revealed to them from above or that they had seen a vision. Others claim to have been taken by an Angel or Jesus to see some higher revelation. However when you listen carefully, you will discover that what they say is different from the written Word of God. Never listen to them.
Apart from conforming to the written Word, There are several things that are typical of our gospel.
Our gospel produces Salvation to everyone that believes. Rom 1:16 KJV* “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The word salvation is Greek Soteria and it means deliverance, preservation, safety or salvation.
*Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Any gospel that threatens believers or put believers in sorrow, in bondage and makes them unsafe should be rejected. Gospel that doesn’t include poor people should be rejected. Gospel that comes with fear, rejection, hatred, and bondage should be rejected. Any gospel that doesn’t bring a sinner to salvation should be rejected whether one claims he receives it from the Lord or some supernatural beings.
Our gospel doesn’t just come in Words only. Anyone who claims he preaches the gospel and denies the Power or miracles that come with the Word should be avoided.
1Th 1:5 KJV* “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8). What He used to do during the time of Peter is also being done today. Therefore the gospel today should be able to produce similar results as during the time of Paul.
Align yourself to the true gospel of Jesus not hearsays of some religious leaders. The Word of God is the true gospel and should be treated as such. Stick to the Word.
