A 22 year old man from Dowa district is in police custody for killing his daughter as he was silencing her during sex with his wife.
According to a police file seen by this publication, the husband has been identified as Lazaro Banda who was married to Everesi Banda, 19, from Chimamba village, T/A Chakhaza in Dowa district.
The police file indicates that the husband committed the crime last Friday night, January 18 as he was having sexual intercourse with the wife.
It is reported that during the intercourse, the girl Tereza Banda who was four months old started crying and the Father hit her on the head so that she stops crying.
In the wee hours of Saturday, January 19, the two went to their farm leaving behind the baby alone in the house.
Further reports indicate that the two spent over seven hours at the farm with the baby left alone at home and it is said that as they came back in the afternoon at around 1300hrs they found the baby dead.
The matter was later reported to village headman then later to the police who rushed to the scene and the body was taken to the hospital for postmortem where it has been revealed that death was due head injury after assault.
Police then arrested the suspect but say the matter is still under investigations. It is believed that the couple that tge child had died hence heading to their farm in the morning returning in the afternoon.
Lazaro Banda hails from Phamba village in the area of Traditional Authority Kawamba in Kasungu district.
