Mzuzu City legislator Leonard Njikho has condemned the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government for failing to construct roads in the city despite money being allocated for the projects.

Njikho who is also UTM Regional Governor for the North was speaking during a rally he conducted at Zolozolo in the city.

“Parliament already allocated money for Luwinga-Mzuzu technical road, Matete-Mzuzu Government secondary school road, not forgetting the Civic Center and Youth Center but up to now we don’t know where that money is,” Njikho said.

He added that paperwork for some of the roads has been finalized but the council does not know when construction works would start.

Njikho then claimed that once UTM get in government such things will be history because projects in all districts will be implemented.

During the rally, 28 people defected from Malawi Congress Party, People’s Party and Democratic Progressive Party and joined UTM.

In the Northern Region, the Democratic Progressive Party government has completed projects such as Mzuzu-Nkhata Bay Road, Mzuzu dual carriage way, and Nkhata Bay District Hospital.
