DPP promises hospital, community college in Ndirande


Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says it will construct a hospital and a community college in Ndirande.

DPP Vice President for the Southern Region Kondwani Nankhumwa made the promise when he held a rally at Nyambadwe Primary School Ground.

Nankhumwa said there are a lot of talented young people in the township hence the need to provide them with technical training to nurture their talents and to give them loans so that they can start businesses.

On the hospital, Nankhumwa said government is ready to construct a hospital to cater for the growing population in the township and he asked community leaders to find land for the project.

During the rally, Nankhumwa also mentioned construction of a recreation centre, market, bus depot and the Chimseu-Malasyia as well as Majiga-Zambia roads in the township.

Nankhumwa then acknowledged that blackouts are affecting a lot of Ndirande residents who make a living through small businesses such as barbershops, welding and salons.

He assured   people in the area that the DPP government has introduced programs to end the issue of intermittent power supply.

“President Peter Mutharika says he knows the about the problem of blackouts. We have several programmes to end blackouts such as the Kam’mwamba project and importing power from Mozambique. The president wants that by March next year, 80 Megawatts should be added to the national grid,” he said.

Speaking earlier, DPP Regional Governor for the South Charles Mchacha attacked Vice President Saulos Chilima for dumping the party saying he (Chilima) failed to show gratitude to president Mutharika.
