Be Forward Wanderers coach Yasin Osman has challenged his fringe players to change their mental attitude and raise their game.
Osman said this in the wake of Wanderers’ Fisd Cup exit at Moyale Barracks on Tuesday, a game in which they missed some of their regular players due to injuries and suspensions.
Some soccer pundits and fans have sympathised with the Nomads for what they called fixture congestion as the Moyale match was Wanderers’ third in three days, following league meetings with Blue Eagles and Silver Strikers respectively.
But while admitting that fatigue might have played a part in that 2-0 capitulation, Osman also laid the blame at the feet of his not so regular boys for an attitude problem.
“We were not surprised of the mental fatigue that had taken its toll on the lads, because we travelled a long distance. But that should not be an excuse, we have a deep squad so I expect all players to give out their best when called to duty.
We believe that all our players are technically equal, they have proved it. The only difference is experience, so those with less game time should lift themselves and get more games.
They shouldn’t play just because they have been given a chance, that attitude should change,” he said.
The veteran gaffer then added that they feel the problem is a very important psychological component in the game which they will work to overcome.
On their weekend league fixture against Premier bet Wizards, Osman said they will take a cautious approach.
“We know that they are struggling and would like to lift themselves out of relegation danger, so we will have to be very careful knowing that anything can happen in this game. But we are confident we can win the match and we will play to win it,” said Osman.
