A pastor who raped a girl aged 10 and infected her with HIV is out on bail.
Ntcheu first grade magistrate granted bail to Phillip Palibe Ndipo, 50, Pastor of New Covenant Assemblies of God who is answering a case of defilement for sexually abusing the girl at Kalindira village in the district.
Ntcheu police publicist Hastings Chigalu said Ndipo applied for bail and the court granted him on conditions that he produces two sureties of K75,000 each, which he managed to do.
On Wednesday, he appeared before Ntcheu magistrate court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case returns in court on October 12, 2017 for hearing, this is the day when the state will parade its witnesses to the case.
Ndipo committed the offence on September 27 when the girl was alone at home while her mother was away drawing water.
On return from the borehole, the mother found the girl crying uncontrollably and when asked, she revealed that she had been raped by the pastor.
Later, the matter was reported to Kandewu police unit who later referred them to Kandewu Health Centre where it was confirmed that the girl was indeed sexually abused.
Pastor Palibe Ndipo hails from Kalindira village, Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu.

Chipatu Mwasinga, YES even if he is proven to be HIV reactive it is very very wrong to make an assumption that he has infected the girl. The issues here at the interim are that of rape and exposure to HIV pronto.
