Machinga Police Station on Tuesday conducted an orientation meeting at Liwonde NICE hall with its Station Executive Committee Members (SEC).
Machinga Police publicist, Davie Sulumba said the meeting was aimed at imparting security knowledge to the elected members and strengthening security in Machinga.
Machinga Police station community policing Coordinator Inspector Naison Chibondo who was the facilitator taught SEC members on problem solving model called SARA which stands for scanning the problem, analysing it, responding and assessing.
The community policing members were also taught principles of crime prevention such as target hardening, removal of means to commit a crime, deflecting offenders and visibility or surveillance.
Members at the meeting were also taught on human rights as well as on goals and principles of human rights.
Speaking to participants, SEC Chairman Richard Kalasa thanked police for organising the meeting and warned other community police members against getting involved in malpractices.
In his remarks, Officer In-Charge for Machinga Police Station Sledje Yoosuf asked SEC members and police officers to be vibrant in disseminating information to the community for safe and secure Machinga.
On his part, Regional Community Policing Coordinator Senior Superintendent Alfred Chimwaza said SEC members should monitor community policing structures in all police formations.
