Robert Chiwamba denies being behind insult audio clip

Popular Poet Robert Chiwamba  has dismissed speculations that he is behind the clip that is insulting universities and colleges which have not been accredited by National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) to offer degrees in the country.

Speaking to Malawi24, Chiwamba said some unruly people want to tarnish his image by manipulating the voice used in the clip to match his voice.

According to Chiwamba, people have been seeking clarification on whether he is behind the clip to which he is saying he is not.

“I have nothing to do with it. I don’t know who is behind it and his intentions. I would like to thank those who sought clarification first before jumping into conclusions that I am the one behind it,” said Chiwamba.

There is an audio clip circulating on social media particularly WhatsApp which is insulting universities that have been prohibited by NCHE from offering degree programmes in the country.

One sentence in the clip is attacking people who scored poorly at Malawi School Certificate of Education level but are studying degree programmes at the colleges.

On Thursday, NCHE announced that some colleges are offering ‘fake’ degrees. Among the colleges and universities are Sky Way University, Exploits University, Blantyre International University and Malawi College of Accountancy.
