The statement was brought forward by the president of the institution’s students union Wazamazama Katatu.

Mzuni remains closed.
Mzuni remains closed.

He said they have decided to organise the demonstrations since the institution’s officials have remained silent on the matter.

“We have decided to conduct demonstrations so that the president should act on the issue because we are just the victims of circumstances, ” he explained.

Katatu also expressed shock over the current situation since everyone has just remained silent.

Mzuzu University was closed last week following a strike by both academic and non-academic members of staff at the institution who are demanding a pay increase.
