Malawi’s music export to the Netherlands Danny Kalima has once again made his motherland proud having made it into that country’s elite music contest.

The R&B and Soul singer defied the odds with his impressive performance at the Voice blind auditions, on 29th October, to make it into the contest.

Kalima also known by his moniker Sirius, brought life into the house with his electrifying performance of Pharrel William’s Happy. This left two of the four judges convinced hence granting him the permission to proceed to the next level.

“I am happy to have made it through the blind auditions. The show was on October 29 and the next shows are now the battles. I don’t know the exact date when it comes on television but it will be mid next month,” said the singer as quoted in a local newspaper.

A video clip of his performance is currently enjoying views on YouTube. It has over 75,000 views, less than a week since it was added on the platform.

Sirius left Malawi for the Netherlands in December last year. Before his departure, he claimed the best R&B award in the Music Malawi Awards (Muma) in 2014. A year later, he went on to earn a nomination in the Africa Music Awards (Afrima) for his song, Dust City.
