New political party in the offing: Gospel Kazako, Humphrey Mvula, Mathews Chikaonda linked to It

Information that Malawi24 has gotten hold of indicates that there is about to be registered a new party in Malawi.

According to some sources, the new party will be called United Transformation Party (UTP) and it brings together Malawi’s business captains and other old guards in politics.

Unverified information indicates that some names in Malawi have been named to be linked to the party.

A source said Zodiak Broadcasting Station founder Gospel Kazako is among the leaders of the party. Malawi24 is yet to confirm with him if indeed it is true that he is a part to the new party.

It has also been alleged that veteran politician Humphrey Mvula and business captain Matthews Chikaonda will be part to the Political Party.

The unconfirmed reports have further hinted that Newton Kambala will be the interim President of the party.

Here in Malawi, since the adoption of multiparty democracy in 1994, we have seen a floodgate of political parties on the scene.   269. One word for you guys, don’t listen to spectators who have never accomplished anything in their lives. People who are outside the box always try to look wise and look for mistakes because they never act and therefore immune to criticism. Don’t listen to them, follow your dreams as long as they are good for the nation. If there is someone to listen to then it has to be a person who is already in the game not everybody. Who knows, may be they might contribute to the socioeconomic status of our country.

  272. One thing i dont like about our country is that when everybody feels has got money and a little famous they join politics. When one retires from work, instead of venturing into entrepreneurship and help reduce unemployment and thereby improve the national GDP, feels a best place to go is politics. Whenever anyone starts a business, for the laziness of strategizing on how to make their businesses thrive, they join politics to win all contrants easily, thereby killing and suffocating businesses of non-politicians. If only politicians stop dominating govt contracts i can take mw serious in its efforts to promote SMEs and only then can i have hope in our economy of doing better some day.

    2. More than 65% of all supplies from our local businesses go to govt (to all ministries whether broke or not) because if otherwise or constructions, building etc would have stopped. About exports, then i think is outside the context of my comment and a new topic altogether.
