Information that Malawi24 has gotten hold of indicates that there is about to be registered a new party in Malawi.
According to some sources, the new party will be called United Transformation Party (UTP) and it brings together Malawi’s business captains and other old guards in politics.
Unverified information indicates that some names in Malawi have been named to be linked to the party.
A source said Zodiak Broadcasting Station founder Gospel Kazako is among the leaders of the party. Malawi24 is yet to confirm with him if indeed it is true that he is a part to the new party.
It has also been alleged that veteran politician Humphrey Mvula and business captain Matthews Chikaonda will be part to the Political Party.
The unconfirmed reports have further hinted that Newton Kambala will be the interim President of the party.
One thing I know is that our country has so many planners,commentators,critics but few implementers.all our leaders are like that no time to play tangible role but just blaming each other. In Parliament you hear Mps mentioning hunger to gvt &us but if you ask them what they are doing in their areas,to their relatives,zero. The only politian who walks the talk study Felix Jumbe. Here in Malawi, since the adoption of multiparty democracy in 1994, we have seen a floodgate of political parties on the scene. Legally, it is a political right for someone or a group of people to form or join a political party. Malawians are entitled to this political Right. HOWEVER, the floodgate of political parties is NOT helping matters. At this Juncture, let me invite my fellow citizens to do a sole searching; cant we find a way to DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE COUNTRY? If i were somebody with a voice, I would have suggested that we should hold a REFERENDUM on this point; perhaps we should limit the number of political parties in Malawi to 2. Those interested in the presidency should battle it out during primaries. ( That’s my opinion, the voiceless citizen).

One thing i dont like about our country is that when everybody feels has got money and a little famous they join politics. When one retires from work, instead of venturing into entrepreneurship and help reduce unemployment and thereby improve the national GDP, feels a best place to go is politics. Whenever anyone starts a business, for the laziness of strategizing on how to make their businesses thrive, they join politics to win all contrants easily, thereby killing and suffocating businesses of non-politicians. If only politicians stop dominating govt contracts i can take mw serious in its efforts to promote SMEs and only then can i have hope in our economy of doing better some day.
