A 14 year old boy has died after falling from a moving lorry in the commercial city of Blantyre, police say.
The boy, Kondwani Bonogwe, died when he fell from the lorry registration number MHG 1608 at Chilomoni Township in the city.
Confirming to Malawi24, Blantyre police deputy spokesperson Andrew Mayawo said the driver Stewart Chakwera changed the gears of the vehicle while the boy together with his friends was holding the lorry.
“The accident happened on Tuesday around 4:30 pm when children were playing near the road in Chilomoni township, they were running after a moving vehicle and boarding it, unfortunately one boy fell and died on the spot,” said Mayawo.
Postmortem from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) revealed that the boy died due to serious head injuries.
Bonogwe hailed from Mkwamba village, Traditional Authority (TA) Mlambe in Zomba district.
