Thugs in Dedza district have abducted Fletcher Machinjiri who is a 17 year-old boy with albinism, police say.
According to Dedza police relations officer Sergeant Edward Kabango, the boy who is a standard seven student at Tete primary school in the district went missing on Saturday.
Kabango said on this day, the boy went to Tete football ground where he said he was going to watch football.
However, the boy never returned home and officers believe that the he was abducted by criminals.
Meanwhile the law enforcers are looking for the criminals as well as the boy and have assured people in the area that the truth will be known very soon.
Machinjiri comes from Nambilika village in the area of the Traditional Authority Kachere in the district.
The development comes in days after different parties in the country expressed saddened at the increase of abductions and killings of people born with albinism in the country with Machinga registering more cases of the killings.

I am totally convinced now that the government is not doing anything about this.I thought one victim would have bought the freedom for the rest of people with albinism, because the government would have acted with full force and not trials or attempts. ..yet to my surprise, more and more victims are registered weekly. Sizabwino…in Tanzania I heard that people with albinism have their own camp under the protection of police. Why not in Malawi?
