A rapist in Lilongwe city has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment with hard labour for raping his 14 year-old step-daughter.
According to Lilongwe police publicist, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula, the convict Kondwani Sasandukira, 34, committed the offence last month at his house in Nathenje in the district.
Dandaula said on this day, the girl was chased away from the house by her brothers who accused her of being in a sexual relationship with a boy in the area.
Since she had nowhere to go, the teen slept in the kitchen outside the house.
At midnight the pervert went out of the house to answer a call of nature and he found the girl sleeping in the kitchen.
He took advantage of the situation to rape the young girl.
The girl shouted for help and her mother came out, only to find the wicked man forcing himself on the young girl.
The matter was later reported to police and officers arrested the rapist. Last Friday he appeared before court where he pleaded guilty and the presiding judge sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment.
The judge, senior resident magistrate Anthony Kalisichi claimed that the sentence will be a lesson to all would be offenders.
The convict hails from Mkombero village in the area of Traditional Authority Kalumbu in Lilongwe.
