Government has asked the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) to ensure that business people in the country are conducting their businesses in a fair manner.
Secretary in the ministry of trade and industry Joseph Mkandawire made the remarks following the launch by CFTC of a five-year strategy which will regulate trade in the country.
Mkandawire said there is need for business people to conduct their businesses in a reasonable manner.
”We would like to see the commission ensuring that business is conducted in a fair manner,” said Mkandawire.
He added that unfair trade practices lead to deprivation of goods since some people cannot afford expensive goods, which leads to unfair competition.
Mkandawire added that what government yearns for is to see to it that Malawi has an income meant for everyone.
Malawians have for a long time decried the tendency by some traders in the country to raise and reduce prices as they wish, without being regulated.
Why did they allow banks to buy other banks ?? That commission is failing its duties.
