Couple chops off baby’s private parts

A couple in Dedza has shocked villagers after the two killed their newborn baby and chopped off its private parts.

Deputy police publicist in the district Cassim Manda said police have arrested the two identified as Chiyembekezo Stanley, 33, and her husband Julius Zondolani, 25. Police

According to Manda, on Tuesday police received a tip from neighbours that the family had dumped a baby in a toilet.

The police suspected that the couple had dumped the baby in a nearby toilet and after digging the pit latrine, they found the baby but it was already dead and had neither private parts nor umbilical cord.

The law enforcers took the woman to hospital where medical tests revealed that she had recently given birth.

The suspects were arrested and they will soon appear before court to answer the charge of concealing birth contrary to section 232 of penal code.

Stanley hails from Mponda village T/A Kachere in Dedza and while Zondolani comes from Mtengowagwa village in the area of traditional authority Kachere in Dedza.
