Mutharika deeply shocked by Chinga’s death

President Peter Mutharika has joined Malawians in mourning the death of songbird Grace Chinga.

In a message posted on Facebook, the president has expressed shock at the death of the musician saying her music enriched the lives of many people in the country.

Mutharika also praised Chinga as a woman who had talent and made songs that had words of wisdom.

“Grace was an extraordinary woman full of love, life and immense talent who has blessed all of our lives with her gospel melodies which were full of wisdom.

“Her star will continue to shine and her voice will forever echo in our ears for spiritual inspiration. Grace will always be with us,” said Mutharika.

Chinga died on Wednesday night after a short illness and is survived by three children.

She will be laid to rest on Saturday at HHI Cemetery.
