Two Thunder Queens netball players were recognized as some of the best netball players in the just ended 2015/16 presidential Initiative on Sports netball cup which Kukoma Diamonds won after beating Complex Tigresses by 41 to 36 baskets in Blantyre.
Thunder Queens defender Joana Kachilika and centre Thandi Galeta were both recognised as some of the best players in this season’s presidential netball cup as the two won the best defender and best centre awards respectively.
Kachilika and Galeta were recognized after showing some excellent netballing skills in all Thunder Queens games that were played at Blantyre Youth Centre and they also helped the team to finish on position 3 in the tournament.
In other categories, Alinafe Kamwala of Kukoma Diamonds was voted as best shooter of the tournament after she displayed an awesome performance in the final game against Complex Tigresses and she was also scoring for fun in all Diamonds games.
Civonets netballer Rose Mkwanda was voted as the player of the tournament while Titus Waganda was voted as best umpire of the tournament.
At the end of the awards presentation, Kukoma Diamonds were handed the presidential netball trophy and a cheque worth K4 million.
Not good that men are beating women at their own game. Why should a netball team coached by a man win the tournament and why should a male umpire win the title of best umpire of the tournament? Come on ladies, surely you can do better than this? I am a man but I would prefer women to do better at their own game
