Two men have died in Dedza after being struck by lightning on Sunday, Malawi police say.
Dedza police deputy spokesperson, Cassim Manda, identified the two as Lusiyo Bosoni, 36, and Chosadziwa Maliseni, 26.
According to Manda, the incident occurred in Chimkonda village as the men were under a tree waiting for the rain to cease.
“They wanted to plant Irish potatoes to their near garden as their bicycles were loaded with Irish seed.”
“We advise people to avoid sitting under the trees to avoid such accidents and parents should also look after their children to avoid drowning accidents during this rainy season,” Manda said.
The two men hailed from Kakhome Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza district.
