Workers arrested for stealing biscuits in a factory

Malawi police in Blantyre have arrested 11 workers and two guards for stealing biscuits valued at K125, 700 from Universal Industries.

According to deputy spokesperson for Southern region police headquarters Widson Nhlane, on 20th October 2015 Blantyre police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team received a tip that workers from Universal Industries at Ginnery corner connived with security guards to steal biscuits.

“After the tip, police team mounted an ambush within the company premises and successfully managed to arrest the suspects,” said Nhlane.

arrestedHe added that the suspects were caught whilst they were processing sack bags, plastic bags and school bags containing assorted biscuits valued at K125, 700.

“When all the information is gathered they will appear in court to answer theft charges,” he said.

The names of the guards are Kachepa Jositala (G4S) aged 57 who hails from Nyala village Traditional Authority Kalumbu in Lilongwe and Greciam Malire (Universal guard) aged 40 who hails from Namwela village Traditional Authority Nkanda in Mulanje district.
