Saturday 17th December is surely to be a memorable cup final as the cup final is expected to be held at the Bingu International stadium for the first time in the history of Malawi.

Kamuzu Barracks coach Billy Phambala will be leading his side to a cup final for the first time and if Kamuzu Barracks go on to lift the cup over Be Forward Wanderers, they will surely have earned it as they have performed extremely well in the Fisd challenge cup.

But there won’t be many other teams they would rather have avoided than the Nomads, who have a rich history in Malawi’s football in terms of cup finals having won most of their cup final games.

The Nomads have had another habitual season that has seen them lifting the Carlsberg cup and reaching another cup final just like last season.

This will be Kamuzu Barracks and Be Forward Wanderers’ first ever meeting in a cup final. Here we take a closer look at how the two teams have performed against each other and how the two have fared in the league.

So far this season the two sides have encountered each other twice in the league and once in the Carlsberg cup semifinal with the Nomads winning once in the Carlsberg cup and once in the league whereas KB have won once in the league.

The two clubs’ first meeting this season was played at Kamuzu stadium in the league and the Nomads came out as victors after beating the soldiers 2-1 before eliminating the soldiers in the Carlsberg cup after with a 2 nil win.

Last time the two sides encountered each other in the league Kamuzu Barracks dominated the whole proceedings of the match and they came out victors when they registered a 2-1 over the Nomads.

The final promises to be an entertaining match considering that goals have been a norm in this fixture this season. So far this season the fixture has only managed to produce a single clean sheet in the Nomads Carlsberg cup semifinal 2 nil win.

To reach this far, Be Forward Wanderers beat Blue Eagles 1 nil with Bongani Kaipa scoring the Nomads lone goal of the match whereas Kamuzu Barracks booted out Silver Strikers 1 nil with Manase Chiyesa’s second half goal.

The Lilongwe based soldiers have closed the gap recently but the Nomads have dominated this fixture in many outings.
