The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has ruled that the Presidential Cup match involving Civo United and Master Security should be replayed next week.

Civo United
Civo: will play against Master Security

The football governing body says the game should be replayed on Monday, 16th May at Nankhaka ground in Lilongwe.

The match between Civo and Master Security was abandoned after 28 minutes on Wednesday at Civo Stadium. FAM says the abandonment of the game was caused by the referee’s conduct due to his inconsistent decision making.

According to a statement released by the Malawi FA, after going through the match report compiled by referee Roy Williams and Match Coordinator Pyson Likagwa, FAM came up with the determination that the match should be replayed since the referee was contradicting himself as to what caused the abandonment.

FAM says the referee’s report lacked substance as to exactly what transpired, leading to the abandonment of the game.

Therefore, the body has recommended that an immediate disciplinary action on the match referee should be taken by the National Referees Association.

FAM has however charged Master Security for manhandling the referee after he disallowed their goal which is a violation of article 27 sections 9 and 10 of the Presidential Cup Rules and Regulations.

Meanwhile, FAM hopes that both clubs will continue to uphold the Rules and Regulations of the Presidential Cup and assist FAM in “Moving Football Forward.”
