Devotion: Value what you have

Hebrews 12:16-17 ” Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as
Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For you know how
that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.”

People have accused Jacob of stealing blessings from Esau. However the
truth of the matter is that Jacob was the rightful owner of the blessings because Esau had already sold the Birthright with a morsel of meat and he disqualified himself from the blessing.

Its only that their father was not informed. If the father had blessed Esau, he could have been stealing the blessings from the rightful owner Jacob.
Esau was so careless that He didn’t value the Birthright and he thought a plate of soup was worthy the future.

He didnt value the future and instead he sold it for passing pleasures.

When you have Christ, you have a treasure in you. Although your body
may look small and insignificant, have the consciousness that there is
treasure in your life. 2Cor 4:7 “But we have this treasure in clay
vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and
not from ourselves.”

However in life there are some pressing needs and challenges that may
need immediate attention or quick solutions. When right solutions are
not immediately available, some Christians would go for wrong but
quicker solutions.

Their problems may include difficulty in finding a job, failure to pass exams or difficulty in finding something else.

The most foolish thing one can do is to exchange your Christianity
with the passing pleasure.This is same as what Esau did and it was
difficult for him to reverse.

Reuben in another occasion also sold his future.  He had sexual
desires to be fulfilled and he decided to sleep with one of His
fathers concubines and lost his future forever.

1 Chro5:1 ” Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; so that he is not enrolled in the
genealogy according to the birthright. Though Judah prevailed over his
brothers, and from him came the leader, yet the birthright belonged to
Joseph)”

There are so many Christian students, leaders, pastors and others who
sold their future to satisfy their temporal desires. They cry trying
to reverse the situation but they are failing.Its the will of the
father that we keep our salvation. Its too expensive to be exchanged
for cheap things. Nothing can be compared to value of Christ in you.
The value of being a Child of God. The value of Being a born again
believer. Angels admire us. Devil wishes he was one of us but he
can’t. Demons admire you. Don’t lose it.

Remember, you need to work out your salvation with fear and trembling(Phil2:12).

Prayer
Thank you father for my status of being the a believer.  I will never
sell my right with passing pleasures of this world. I will ensure that
everyday I am in the Word to fulfil my destiny in Christ Jesus. In
Jesus name. AMEN.

If you want to be born again pray: Father in the name of Jesus, I come to you. I believe that Jesus died and rose again. I receive Jesus in
my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Lord Jesus come and enter my heart.
Give me a new heart. Write my name in the book of life. Thanks you for
coming in my heart. I am now a born again. The old things have passed
away. I am a new creation in Christ.Thank you Father because my old
life and sins are gone. In Jesus Name. Amen
