The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has issued a mix of approvals and warnings to Exploits University, renewing some degrees, attaching conditions to others, and refusing to register two programs.
In a letter, NCHE Acting Chief Executive John Raymond Sadalaki informed the university president that the council’s 48th meeting had acted on an August assessment, and programmes cleared for renewal are the Bachelor of Business Administration and the Bachelor of Accountancy, the latter only if the Malawi Accountants Board signs off.
Six programmes were renewed with conditions which are Bachelor of Arts in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Bachelor of Arts in Health Systems Management, Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Human Resource Management and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
The council accredited one new programme, Bachelor of Arts in Community Development, and registered five others for an 18‑month provisional period.
The registered programmes are Diplomas in Health Care Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and Management Studies, Bachelor of Marketing and Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
However, the council refused registration for the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.
The university has been given three months to submit improvement plans for the affected courses, or risk withdrawal.
