Betting on deceit: Premier Bet Manager embezzles K3 million through online gaming

A shocking case of embezzlement has rocked Premier Bet’s 6 Miles branch, as manager Ellina Mwanguku, 24, has been arrested for embezzling K3 million through online betting.

According to Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa, Lilongwe Police Deputy Publicist, Mwanguku allegedly committed the offence on Sunday, 1st December 2024, when she used the company’s funds to place multiple bets on the Premier Bet Aviator game, resulting in a massive loss.

During interrogation, Mwanguku admitted to misappropriating the revenue through the Aviator betting game. A review of her cellphone revealed multiple bets of K1 million.

Mwanguku, a resident of Misuku Village, Traditional Authority Mwenemisuku in Chitipa District, is expected to appear in court soon to face charges of theft by a servant.
