Police in Ntchisi have arrested Group Village head Kasakula aged 47-year-old for allegedly sexually abusing and impregnating his 13-year-old step-daughter at Kasakula village in the district.
Public Relations Officer for Ntchisi Police Station Sergeant Yohane Tasowana has confirmed the arrest of Group Village Headman Kasakula.
Sergeant Tasowana told Malawi24 that Group Village head, whose real name is Peter Zimba, married the victim’s mother in 2018. It has been reported that since 2021, the suspect has been raping the minor until she was discovered pregnant in November this year.
He said that the suspect then chased the girl to live with her grandmother but she revealed everything to a Community Victim Support Unit (CVSU) who took her to a social welfare office before reporting the matter to Police.
The Police referred the minor to the Hospital where it was revealed that she is three months pregnant.
The Police have since charged Peter Zimba with defilement, and he will appear in court soon to answer the charge levelled against him.
Peter Zimba hails from Kasakula village, the area of Sub Traditional Authority Masanya in the District.
