The TNM Super League 2022 Season is coming to an end today with three games set to be played this afternoon.
Dedza Dynamos are travelling to Blantyre to face the Champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, Mafco are at Nankhaka against Blue Eagles while Red Lions are at home against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Nyasa Big Bullets were crowned the Champions after beating Moyale Barracks six days ago. Both top four and top eight teams are already inferred as we go into the very last week of the season.
During this season’s Super League as we go into the last week, 556 goals have been scored.
So far, the people’s team are the highest scoring team with 67 goals, beating their own record that they set in 2019 in which they pillaged 62 goals, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are coming second with 52 goals.
TN Stars and Rumphi United were the teams with porous defence in the league, conceding 68 and 73 goals respectively while Blue Eagles have conceded the least number of goals (9). Kamuzu Barracks come second with 19 goals.
It’s just a formality game as Bullets have won the league and Dedza Dynamos have finished out of top four following their goalless draw against Red Lions.
The people’s team will be eager to finish the season in style as they will be ceremonially crowned as the Champions of the 2022 season as they face Dedza Dynamos.
The Salima sponsored side has recently been struggling to get points away from home this season while the hosts have been superb at home this season.
Dedza have collected 17 points on the road but they have failed to have a good record as of late- losing 4 and drawing a single games with no win.
Dedza have also failed to score a single goal in their last 5 games on the road as they were beaten 2-0 by Kamuzu Barracks and Karonga United, 4-0 by Blue Eagles and Ekwendeni Hammers. They played a barren draw against Civo Service United at Champions Stadium.
With Championship already sealed, Nyasa Big Bullets will go into the game hoping for three points to make it 73, beating their own record that they set in 2019 when they amassed 70 points.
Should they get the win, Nyasa Big Bullets will equal their record that they had in 2019 when they only suffered one defeat.
This is the second meeting between the two teams and in the first round, Nyasa Big Bullets escaped with a narrow 1-0 victory at Balaka Stadium.
Dedza are winless in their last 5 games, losing to Silver Strikers, Blue Eagles twice and drawing against Civo Service United and Red Lions while Nyasa Big Bullets are fresh from a 4-1 victory over Karonga United. Since their 1-0 defeat to Mafco, they have managed to score 16 goals. They hammered Karonga United 7-0 and 4-1, Moyale Barracks 3-1 and Mighty Tigers 2-0.
On the other side Wanderers band Red Lions will be locking horns at Balaka Stadium with two teams looking to finish the season in high spirit. Red Lions have already survived the relegation chop while Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have already sealed the position four after beating Sable Farming narrowly [1-0].
Wanderers have only won one game in their last 4 games which eventually led to the sacking of Alex Ngwira who publicly through a Voice Note accused the Technical director, Mark Harrison of interfering with his duty.
Red Lions are coming from a goalless draw against Dedza Dynamos and to them too, a win will be a boost as they are looking to work on the necessary things that put the team in struggle this season before the next season starts.
In 33 meetings between the two teams, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have a record of 14 wins while Red Lions have a record of 8 wins with 11 games ending in stalemate.
The last time the Zomba-based Soldiers beat Nomads in league was in 2018 when Royal Bokosi netted the only goal but Wanderers have won three of their last four meetings.
A win will see Mighty Mukuru Wanderers finishing the season with 56 points on number four while a win for Red Lions will see them climbing the table to finish the season on 11 with 32 points as they currently have 29 points.
In a grudge match, police headquarters’ side Eagles will welcome the Salima based Soldiers, Mafco Football Club at the Nankhaka ground with their mood in high spirit as they are coming from a 5-0 win over TN Stars, a game that the Inspector General of Police, Merlyne Yolamu was spotted in stands watching the game.
In the first round, Arthur Moffat’s sole goal was enough for the Eagles to walk away with 3 points from Chitowe Stadium.
