Airtel Malawi has introduced a new service where Airtel money customers will be able to transfer funds from their Airtel money wallet to National Bank Account via MO626.
The partnership was introduced on Thursday at Airtel Headquarters in Lilongwe.
Speaking with reporters, Head of Airtel Money in Malawi Chris Sukasuka said customers have been complaining about the issue as such the company decided to listen and respond to the concerns accordingly.
Sukasuka added that National Bank is the 6th bank to integrate on the customers financial inclusion efforts.
“What is even better is that our customers will not be required to fill in any forms in order to link their accounts, with this paperless integration of our platform. Coupled with our widest Airtel money agent network, we guarantee National Bank customers utmost freedom,” he explained.
In a separate interview, National Bank Head of Cards and E-Banking William Kaonda said that the service will assist many of their customers who are in hard to reach areas to access National Bank services through easy to reach Airtel money services.
Kaonda went on to say that they are expecting all of their customers to be using the service.
He explained that as one of their initiative to involve many people in the banking industry and curb the challenge of unbanking population, the bank wants to ensure that the customers are accessing their services across the country.
Airtel Money has been on the market for not less than 7 years while National Bank has been operating for more than 40 years.
