Police in Chikwawa are hunting for a man who is believed to have dropped a male private part when he wanted to steal chicken.
According to Chikwawa district police publicist, constable Foster Benjamin, the man who is suspected to be a ritual thief stormed a teacher’s chicken kraal in the early hours of Wednesday 2 January, 2019.
Constable Benjamin said the incident took place at Moyonguti Village under Senior Chief Makhwira in the district.
He said a primary school teacher was awoken by a beam of light which was coming from outside his house and this prompted him to check around and immediately he noticed a stranger walking out of his chicken pen with a cock in his hand.
The suspect later returned into the kraal and he got out and vanished empty handed.
Shortly after sometime, he hit back again for a third time and this time he was naked.
However, he was seen searching around the kraal, prompting the owner to shout for help and villagers who came after hearing the shout found a small plastic bag containing a male private part.
The matter was reported to police who later rushed to the scene to recover the organ that was later confirmed by the hospital personnel to be male private part.
Meanwhile, police are appealing to community members to tip the law enforcers about anyone selling ill-gotten chicken as manhunt is underway for the ritualistic suspect.
