Do not go into govt for personal gains – expert advises politicians

A political analyst has advised politcians in the country against seeking political positions for personal gain.

The sentiments follow interest by some citizens in various political positions ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Malawi24, Chancellor College based Political Philosophy lecturer Father Boniface Tamani urged all politicians eyeing various positions to have a spirit of serving the people who are to vote them into power.

Tamani: do not seek personal gains

“They should not go into government for personal gains, they must go into government because they want to serve the people,” said Tamani.

He added that Malawians must weigh carefully on who are to be the next leaders of Malawi for the betterment of the country.

Tamani added further that politicians must be honest with what they are to be promising saying the country has witnessed many politicians who are into “rhetorics”.

On May 19 next year, Malawi is to have general elections to vote for president, Members of Parliament and ward councillors.
