Man commits suicide after being denied sex by girlfriend

A 27-year-old man in Mzimba killed himself on Monday after his girlfriend refused to have sex with him.

Mzimba Police Station Public Relations Officer Peter Botha has identified the deceased as Damiano Banda who committed suicide by taking pesticides known as cyclemetic poison.

Botha said the incident happened on Monday 8th January, 2018 around 7pm at Dimi area in Embangweni.

“On the particular date at around 2pm Banda went to see his girlfriend Lucy Chunga within Embangweni and after a chat with her, Banda asked to have carnal knowledge with her but the young lady asked him to give her money before they can do sex but Banda failed because he had no money to give her,” he explained.

After being rejected by the girlfriend, the man went to Embangweni trading centre and bought pesticides. He later went back to his girlfriend’s house at around 7pm where he drank it in her presence and then vanished into a bush.

The woman reported the matter to Banda’s boss who by the help of community policing members mounted a search and they found him at around 11pm lying down in the bush with foam in his mouth and nose.

They took him to hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Postmortem conducted at Embangweni hospital showed that Banda died due to suffocation.

27-year-old Damiano Banda came from Kayera village in the area of Traditional Authority Chakhadza in Dowa district.
