Police in Salima have intercepted a motor vehicle carrying six cows suspected to have been stolen in the district.
This is according to Police publicist for the district Gift Chitowe who said the two tonner Toyota Dyna pickup was intercepted at Katchenembwe village in the area of Senior Chief Kalonga.
He said police received a tipoff from the public on the development and sent officers who mounted a temporary roadblock.
The publicist further said upon seeing the temporary roadblock ahead of them, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran away.
Meanwhile, the police do not know where the suspects stole the cattle.
The law enforcers are appealing to people who may have information on the whereabouts of the suspects to report to police.
