“Mr Speaker Sir, I stand before this August House to appeal to all those who are paid from taxpayers’ money to always give contact and dialogue a chance so that our country Malawi does not suffer the effects of strikes and our uprisings,” said Chakwera.

He added that there is need for sacrifice and being patriotic from all Malawians who love this country.

  5. When dialogue fails, what”s the alternative? Bush law…coz it produces results fast. Diologue at times delays progress thru unnecessary arguments.

  6. He z right, that’s what we call patriotism,he knows that what’ll be destroyed during this strike, will take years to rebuild, contact and dialogue z the only plausible way to use.i salute him on this.

  7. Azavuta uyu akalowa mboma. Should the government even wait until the civil servants propose for a meaningful Increment? I thought Boma limayenera kungowona mmene zinthu zilili basi nkukwedza mopanda kufunsidwa….

  8. Too late u idiot, where were u? all this tym. U hv no solutions to current issues. Shut ur stinking mouth.if u really care for civil servants u could not hv been party to a 10% hike only to change after strike. Mbuzi yamunthu. Yet u accepted a 75% salary hike, 1million kwacha laptop.. 80million kwacha vehicle yet civil servants are residing /renting in grass thatched houses, yozira ndi dothi . Nosense!,

Walk to the streets strike is demonstrated when contact and dialogue fails.
Even in most countries in the world, this is done.

  12. Dr Chakwera’s salary has been hiked already more than 75% during this parliament session….nde anganene chani cha ma civil servant…lets civil servants fight for their survival coz no one is taking care of their concerns. mukanakhala kuti munathandizapo b4 kulola budget kuti iduse zikanakhala za nzeru zomwe mukunenazo koma apo aboma akudyesani banzi kale kuti muyankhule zanuzo. i know ukuyankhula siiwe but ndalama zomwe akupasani abomazo. if u were malawian u would appreciate the hardship civil servants are going through…monse ma civil servants anayambila contact and dialogue muja..kwangokhala kupanda nzeru kwa a chakwera really malawian can not talk of contact and dialogue pomwe zinthu zafika mkhosi kale…budget ndi iyi mwadusisa without looking into the welfare of civil servants nde uzitiuza kuti ayi koma contact and dialogue…lero?

  15. Government normally fails to meet civil servants demands so the best way is to go on strike. Chakwera has never said anything tangible on salaries of civil servants but of his fellow MPS. He is also a failure like the incumbent one

  16. He of all people should understand that the civil servant tried all that before the strike.

If the Government wasn’t wiling to upheld to what they agreed. What do you expect?

  17. We understand the damage that can be caused by strikes. But if the government take pole like cartoons then left with no option but strike. Same apply with this government they don’t want to engage with us then we are left with no option but to vote them out. How long should we be patient when the import lies and empty promise. At least let’s meet half way. But when crisis rise the president take a trip to buy empty promise then you expect to keep dialogue. Their ears are blocked. Mwano siwofunika but chisoni chinaphetsa nkhwali. Mwana osalila anafere kumsana. Until when. If you point out a problem you are any enemy and they will manufacture criminal charges against you. Or send stupid cadet to destroy you. Then is that kind of modern dialogue. I thought its a free country. First time in history in Malawi to be were we are now

  18. When M.Ps want to increase their perks, they don’t argue. They simply implement. Right now MPs are in the process of putting themselves on pension. Imagine that! Noone will ever voice their concern considering the status of our economy. Employers are very stubborn in Malawi especially the govt. That civil servants’ pay is low and I have never heard Chakwera urging govt to increase their salaries. Today he is for contact and dialogy. This is a total fallacy.

  19. With Malawi, contact & dialogue doesn’t work and i don’t think it will one day work. the only best solution is to put the tools down.

    1. KUTSUTSATU SIKUTI NDI PAZONSE, ZABWINO AYAMIKILE! TAONA INUYO TSONO MUKUKHALA NGATI MUKUYAMIKIRA KOMA MOKULUWIKA: NANGA KUKHALA TIZIKHALIRA M’NYOZO??
