A 65 year-old man is in Mangochi Police custody for being found with medical drugs without licence.
Mangochi Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Amina Tepani Daudi has identified the man as Levisoni Mayenda.
According to Daudi, detectives from National Police Headquarters in conjunction with officials from Ministry of Health were on anti-medical drug vending exercise on Thursday and in course of their campaign they found the suspect at Ntanga Trading Centre selling assorted medical drugs in his shop.
“The suspect was found with medical drugs such as Cotrim, lndocid, LA, Quinine, Panado, Penicillin, Penibritan, Fansidar and Aspirin but without proper documents,” said Daudi.
The suspect was arrested immediately and the officers seized the drugs.
He will appear before court to answer the charge of being found in possession of medical drugs without licence which is contrary to section 45 as read with section 65 of Pharmacy Medicines and Poisons Board Act.
Levison hails from Mtanga village, Traditional Authority Chimwala in Mangochi district.
